Quail Ridge Golf Course Plays Host to Avid Golfers, Tournament Play and Practicing Varsity and College Teams

Quail Ridge Golf Course

Quail Ridge Golf Course is beautifully maintained and features large fountains in several ponds.

Golfers in the Memphis area looking for a change of scenery from the flatlands find it in Bartlett at the Quail Ridge Golf Course.

Eighteen holes meander over rolling hills‚ some on open land and most through the trees‚ while four lakes add to the challenge.

David Pfaff‚ trained by renowned course designer Pete Dye‚ laid out the Bermuda grass facility in 1994. Number 13 is its signature hole‚ featuring a long‚ tight fairway and a narrow green designed to give even those with a single-digit handicap a trying time.

“I like the challenge of the course‚” says General Manager Brian Alexander. “It’s not real long‚ but you need to hit a lot of different shots.”

Golfers have their choice of five layouts‚ ranging in length from 5‚095 to 6‚346 yards. “Probably 90 percent of our players ride carts because it is not an easy walk‚” Alexander says.

Before teeing off‚ they can practice on the driving range and putting and chipping greens or take a lesson from PGA professional Jim Martin.

Players can purchase annual memberships or pay daily fees at the semi-private course. Special rates and times are available for police‚ fire‚ military and clergy‚ parent-and-child twosomes and other categories of golfers.

Quail Ridge is used frequently for fundraisers and tournaments‚ having hosted the FedEx St. Jude Classic qualifying tournament and the Bubba Conlee National Junior Golf tournament in 2007.

Quail Ridge is also the practice home for the golf teams of Bartlett and Bolton high schools‚ the University of Memphis‚ Rhodes College and Christian Brothers University.
